To develop branding and aesthetic for a hypothetical food magazine.
My role was head designer in developing a brand and aesthetic of a print magazine for a hypothetical food industry.
I was responsible for the following:
The project was to produce a magazine for any topic of my choice. As a designer who has been around the food industry for years, I chose to go with the food industry. To really bring life to this project, I went to local businesses around the Providence area and interviewed them while also taking pictures of their items and store fronts to really grasp the essence of their work.
I wanted the magazine to be a Rhode Island based publisher so I kept the Rhode Island abbreviation. While doing research, I made sure to grab inspiration through other food logos utilizing Dribbble, Behance, and Pinterest. As I drew several iteration, the one that stuck out most was the letter R with a spoon embedded within it. Then I used a script font for the word Flavor to compliment RI as a sans serif style font. The simplicity of the logo design really speaks for itself and suits the style and aesthetic of the magazine.
Each page go the magazine contains self taken images. Every picture packs a punch of color and makes the viewers hungry and that is the goal. I want to get the attention of each reader and really grasp them to the item and know where and how they could get their hands on it.
